Veterinary Diagnostics in League City
Understanding Your Pet’s Health
When your pet is feeling under the weather, you can rely on Animal Kingdom Pet Hospital to figure out what’s wrong. We use diagnostic testing and imaging to help understand your pet’s health and target areas for treatment when they are feeling unwell. We also use diagnostic testing and imaging with your pet’s regular health exams so that we can better understand your pet’s normal health. We establish a baseline to compare against future tests conducted when your pet is ill. By doing this, we can better diagnose and treat your pet.
In-House Diagnostic Testing
Our in-house laboratory means that your pet’s lab tests are conducted faster, and results are delivered back to you more quickly than if we had to send your pet’s samples to an outside lab.
Our laboratory can perform the following tests:
- Fecal check
- Skin scrape
- Fine needle biopsy
- Fungal Culture
All of the above tests tell us important information about your pet’s health. Animal Kingdom Pet Hospital can perform a number of other diagnostic tests for your pet that aren’t listed above. You can rest assured that we’ll do everything we can to make sure your pet is getting the right tests.
Animal Kingdom Pet Hospital uses digital radiology techniques, which are different from traditional radiology because digital radiology uses a computer-based image capture system instead of film. Digital radiology uses an electronic detection device to measure the x-rays that pass through your pet’s tissue. These newer systems are much smaller, faster, and more environmentally friendly. More importantly, they expose your pet to a lower dose of radiation than traditional methods. Digital radiology uses sensors that are more sensitive than film, resulting in images that are higher in detail and are available for review much faster. The all-digital process also means that our League City veterinarians are able to view the images and send or store them electronically.
In addition to digital x-ray technology, we are able to conduct ultrasound imaging for your pets. Unlike x-rays, which produce still images, ultrasounds can show soft tissues and organs in real time. Ultrasounds are a non-invasive, pain-free method of diagnosing and staging many diseases.
Common uses for ultrasounds include:
- Detection of infection or stones in the urinary system
- Monitoring enlargement of organs
- Evaluation of the stomach and intestinal walls
- Location foreign bodies in the digestive tract
- Monitoring pregnancy
- Evaluating heart disease
Because ultrasounds can’t penetrate hard or dense tissue like bones, they are best used for the inspection of your pet’s soft tissue organs.
